Operation Barbarossa - The Struggle for Russia
On 22nd of June 1941 at 03:15 hours Germany attacked the Soviet Union with 153 Divisions. The biggest Operation in military history took its course.
"Operation Barbarossa" takes the player back to this time, where he takes over command of a part of the military forces of Germany or the Soviet Union. During the game the player completes historical missions that lead him to locations like Moscow, Berlin or the Caucasus.
The player has to ensure that his army stays powerful and is prepared for new challenges by skillfully using the own units and resources. To solve the missions at the best you have to take weather conditions and terrain into account. Spare resources can be invested into new units or into the improvement of existing ones.
At the same time the overall composition of the army should be considered to be able to keep up with current changes.
The game offers over 150 different historical air and ground units like Tiger, T-34, Junkers Ju 87, IL-2 Sturmovik, Messerschmitt Bf 109 and Katyushas, but also special units like engineers and paratroops to cope with the many different tactical and strategical situations.
In addition the player can boost his units with 47 differing upgrades that can be assigned whenever a new level of experience is reached by a unit. This way you can specialize units so that e.g. one is good at attacking towns and another is an expert in anti-tank combat.
"Operation Barbarossa" combines the classic WW2 hexfield simulation with modern game design and contemporary 3D visuals while keeping the system requirements at a decent level.
A tutorial campaign provides easy access for newcomers of the genre and the build-in editor allows you to create your own scenarios and battles.
